A major destination for American and international travelers, the Arlington community boasts Reagan International Airport and world-famous attractions like Arlington National Cemetery and the Iwo Jima Memorial. Many visitors use Arlington as a hub from which to explore the greater Washington, DC area. To better establish the Stay Arlington brand and travel experience and help bring the destination out from under the shadow of its more famous next-door neighbor, the Arlington Convention and Visitor Services team partnered with Tempest to reimagine its digital marketing platform.
Tempest was challenged to solidify brand recognition within the target audience while educating the audience on the benefits of staying overnight in Arlington versus the busy and expensive alternative of Washington DC proper. The new website needed to highlight Arlington's proximity to DC and share the variety of attractions available in Arlington, including excellent lodging opportunities and diverse restaurant and nightlife options for travelers looking to unwind after a busy day.
The resulting new website positions Stay Arlington as a modern, convenient, and unique vacation destination with historical undertones. An updated user interface sets the tone for the travel experience through a fusion of historical points of interest, transportation options, and proximity to major Washington, DC area attractions. Based on research and user behavior data findings, Tempest developed a custom neighborhood guide to assist visitors with discovering the unique character of Arlington’s major population centers. Leveraging local calendar feeds, the Stay Arlington event calendar offers a robust stream of area events for locals and travelers alike.
