If you go...

  • We recommend experiencing different types of transportation! We took the ferry to the island on the way there, which was very relaxing and a lovely way to travel. On the way home, we took a seaplane from Vancouver, which was super fast (30 minutes) and a neat way to see the landscape of the destination.
  • Check out the beach, one of the biggest attractions in the destination. Parksville/Qualicum Beach sits on the eastern side of Victoria Island, so its waters are calm and very family-friendly. It also has a gradual slope, which means when the tide is out, the beach is huge, giving you plenty of opportunities to explore and find shells. The shallow depth also means the water is much warmer and perfect for travelers with younger kids.
  • We recommend going to Rathtrevor Beach, a beautiful provincial park that is also a great spot for camping.
  • Grab dinner and a beer at The Black Goose Inn, an authentic British pub.
