TACVB 2018 Annual Conference Highlights

We were happy to be a part of TACVB's Annual Conference in August.

TACVB 2018 Annual Conference

Sugar Land, TX

The TACVB Annual Conference was a blast. Mark and I would like to give a big shout out to Sarah Page and Pamela Anderson from the TACVB team for hosting an amazing event with record attendance and wonderful content. A big thank you also to Visit Sugar Land and Visit Houston for your leadership and hospitality.

We had the opportunity to host two pre-conference sessions to walk attendees through TxMet, TACVB's new and improved lead-sharing database which is powered by the iDSS CRM. We were also able to present an educational session about how more than 170 DMOs are currently leveraging the iDSS CRM platform. Throughout the conference we met so many dedicated destination marketers, and were able to lend our expertise in two additional sessions on discovering apps and plugins to support sales and prospecting and on data privacy and security in the destination marketing space.

Outside of all the learning we did, the highlight of the visit was an evening Sugar Land Skeeters baseball game. Here are a few highlights from our visit below:

We attended a Sugar Land Skeeters baseball game, and I got invited on the field to run one of the bases in during the TACVB closing ceremony.  View the giphy evidence here.

This photo of the ballpark was snapped by @NoraRebecaOchoa from El Paso, Texas. Great shot!

If you go . . .

  • The Sugar Refinery
Visit this spot, which is right in the heart of Sugar Land town square. Great food, very attentive servers, and the cedar-smoked old fashioned is one of the best cocktail creations I've tried in a long time.
  • Sugar Land Skeeters
We had the opportunity to see this Independent League baseball team in action. This is the perfect family-friendly evening activity. If you go on a Thursday night, enjoy the dollar beers and two dollar hot dogs!
  • Baker's Street Pub
After the game head to this pub for a cold one and you may even catch a glimpse of the team (they are known to hang out there). I recommend trying the Pub Potato Skins. They were delicious.
